Medicare Supplement Insurance
Trying to find help with some fees which Original Medicare does not address? There are ten standardized Medicare Supplement (Medigap) insurance plans offered in most of the U.S., and Plan G may be your best option for broader coverage.
View Plan Benefits
Medicare Supplement insurance Plan G is practically indistinguishable to Medicare Supplement Plan F. These plans supply the most detailed coverage of the ten Medigap plan types offered in most states. The principal difference is Plan G doesn’t cover the Medicare Part B deductible, you need to cover this additional expense yourself.
Deductibles for Medicare Part B vary by year, and you’ll need to cover all health expenses until you’ve met your deductible. Once your deductible is met, you will typically pay 20% of the Medicare-approved cost for Part B-covered activity (e.g., doctor visits and lasting medical devices).

Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan G & Medicare Part B Excess Charges
Medigap Plan G covers Part B excess charges, where most Medicare Supplement insurance does not. Medigap Plan F is the only alternative Medicare Supplement insurance plan offering this benefit. Excess charges are the difference between what Medicare agrees to pay for particular health service and what your doctor or health professional charges. Medicare program has authorized payment rates (Medicare Fee Schedule) for covered health services and this controls what doctors and providers are permitted to bill you for Medicare-covered services.
Excess charges may be incurred if you choose a medical practitioner or provider that won’t take assignment. This means the service provider doesn’t accept the Medicare-approved sum as full payment. Legally, providers who do not accept assignment can only impose up to 15% in excess charges over the Medicare-approved total (state legislation may vary/increase limitations).
For instance, if Medicare’s Fee Schedule amount for a health appointment is $200, a non-participating physician may bill you an additional 15%, effectively refusing the ap-proved Medicare Fee Schedule as full payment. In this case, Medicare pays $160, cov-ering 80% of the practitioners’ fees. The beneficiary would then pay $40 (20%) plus the additional 15% percent charge, or $30, making the total out-of-pocket price $70. Since Plan G includes 100% of Medicare Part B excess charges, all out-of-pocket expenses in this scenario would be covered by that policy.
